Brass Anyone?

Hi everyone, hope your weekend went well.  I have recently caught up with some episodes of Sarah's house (Isn't she great?)  She  always manages to create such lovely, drool worthy rooms.  If I ever win the lotto, I will have her design my whole house....I can dream, right?

I happened to notice in the design of this house, how she manages to use a lot of brass accessories through out the home.  Who would had thought, brass is coming back in style.  I have noticed the trend, and for me, it couldn't had come at a better time.

Here are some pictures of her gorgeous dining room:

Simply gorgeous room, and as you can see, she used a lot of brass elements all through out the room.  It does go very well with the dark blue walls.  I want this room ;)  I want that horse picture too!

Anyways, the reason I was so happy to share with you all of these pictures, is that a while ago I picked up this set.....FOR FREE...at a garage sale.  Yup, you heard right, the lady had them in a box marked "FREE", I couldn't pick them up any faster, and I was so thankful the box was sort of hidden in the back of the garage.  It did cross my mind to spray paint them, but after seeing Sarah's accessories, I think I will keep them as is:

I have them grouped along with my other candle holders in the mantel.  Slowly, but surely, I have started to add to my brass collection.

So how about you, do you have a brass collection of your own?  Would you like to?

Hope you all have a great week!

  3. I love the touches of brass around your home Jennifer, especially your new trunk...just gorgeous! As for the new blog design, well, it's just a little experiment I made myself, I really don't want to pay to have a header made, so I have been playing around photoshop, to see what I can make myself. Hopefully, I can come up with a better color, because the yellow that's there right now, does not suit me. Have a great week.

  6. Yes, and if you head to thrift stores, you can score some awesome brass goodies before people really catch on! I just scored this vintage brass pineapple dish for $1. Yay for a vintage revival!

    1. I guess it's a good thing other people don't like brass as much as we do, great find!

  7. What a really great find! I, too, love brass and have some that I need to bring out more often. The featured home is beautiful. Being from Aiken,SC(known for a history with horses), I noticed the huge horse-head picture right away. It is stunning!

    1. I think so too, and would LOVE to find one eventually, I have seen a lot of cow prints before, but this is the first time I see one of a horse.

  14. Yes, I am so happy that brass is back. Now my pretty Baldwin brass hardware that I got on sale when brass is out will be back "in." Not that it was ever "out" with me - I love it!

    1. I know I always tend to miss the good episodes on HGTV, but now I just set my recorder, so that I can catch up later. BTW, the series is called Sarah's Suburban House.
