Now that the new year is here, I have been in the mood to change a "few" problem areas that still need fixing in my home. I shared with you all my master bedroom redo that I did last year, and it is still by far, one of my favorite transformation to date, but I have yet to show you the whole room. I have been slowly working on it, and cannot wait to show the final reveal, but in the meantime, I thought I share this little face lift I gave my buddy vixen (yes, I named him). I have been over to Molly's blog (I adore her blog and decor), and she has a gazelle inside of a frame on her wall, and I really wanted to recreate the same look. I purchased Mr. Vixen at a local antique store, and bought the same frame she has at IKEA. I decided to spray paint the frame white, to go with all the white in the room, and I also spray painted my little friend in metallic silver, because he was a little scary looking before:
Especially This:
And here they both after the paint job:
Love them! I am finishing painting the dresser right below this wall, and will hopefully have it ready for show next week. I cannot wait for this area to be complete.
Hope you have a great weekend!
Kristel

Kristel, he's super charming! You're right, those eyes were a little scary, but he's spiffy in silver! Question about your frame, could you tell me about how big the opening is? I got a new deer friend for Christmas and was planning to try out that Ikea frame around him too. But, you know we're not close and it would have to wait until the next trip. I'm just wondering if it would even fit-he's pretty big. If you have a chance I'd appreciate it! You're walls are such a pretty color, too, I love the combo you put together!
ReplyDeleteVery very cute! Love me some faux taxidermy! xo

ReplyDeleteThank you Kristi.
DeleteThis is so, so cool! I have been warming up to the (fake) animal head art idea, and yours is the perfect example of what I was looking for! I would have no idea where to find a head...but now I'm on the lookout. I just discovered your blog...and am so glad to now be following along!
ReplyDeleteI just can't warm up to it although I've tried. Seems a bit creepy to me to go to bed with this staring at yo
DeleteUnderstandable, I felt like you when the trend first started, but my only consolation was that I knew it would be fake, I could never do the real thing...yikes!
DeleteI featured this post on my blog along with a link back to your cool project! Yours was a favorite among my collection.
