Master Bedroom - Final Touch

Ok, I promise this will probably be the last post on my master bedroom redo for a while, I just had a few details left that I wanted to share, before I move on to my next project, which, by the way, is a headache and a half...I will be posting about it soon.  So, my sweet husband got me the mirrored nightstands that I had been eyeing for our anniversary...and I love them....he..not so much.  Apparently, he does not consider them nightstands..bahh....I say, it does not matter, they are too pretty to complain.  I also added a chair and ottoman from Ikea (Ektorp), because I love to have a reading nook in every bedroom, and was in need of it badly in mine.  I love this spot, and has become the spot to catch up on blogs.  So here are some pictures of how my master bedroom looks now:

Used leftover fabric from the shades, to make a cover for an inexpensive Ikea pillow insert.  Wall medallions from Hobby Lobby, after a good two coats of white paint.

Nightstands purchased on Ebay.

Mother's day flowers, my favorite, in my favorite color.

Mother's day gift...love the shape, sort of resembles an Oeil de Boeuf..which I am currently into.

Here is the before:

And now the after:

I LOVE how the room turned out!!!  And  am so glad I decided to go bold on the wall color, it really stands out with all the white and yellow accents.  I so look forward to spending time in here now, especially with my new chair, and a great book nearby. Thanks for stopping over.

Have a great week!

  2. Just simply GORGEOUS! You did an amazing makeover!!! White bedding is the best, isn't it? Any time I think about switching to something with color, I just have to see a picture like this and know white bedding is so elegant!

  3. That is an awesome bedroom makeover! I am in love with your room - can I move in?? LOL! I love the dark walls with everything else white/light. I have a pic from a magazine in my 'saved' file that featured that idea. Considered it for my own master bedroom makeover - someday! We have some other projects that will have to come first.

  6. Oh, my Kristel, it's absolutely LOVELY! I love the wall color with all of the white too.

Oh, and my husband feels the exact same way about mirrored furniture...like the fact that it's so fancy looking negates its function or something. : )

I love your bedroom, and my favourite thing is still the light!!!
    Loved the updates, the clock...
I find so hard to put the last details together, like what to put on top of tables... I liked the way you did it, simple, not cluttered.
The medallions on the wall were unexpected! Great idea!

  27. Just stunning! So elegant, Kristel! I love the mirrored nightstands ~ I think they fit perfectly with the decor. Love the addition of the chair and ottoman. I like chairs in bedrooms, too. I love the Ektorp chair, too; I had two for about 15 years before they came out with the white slipcovers for them. Now I have one in my living room and my daughter has the other in the granddaughter's nursery.

  33. I love the transformation! It's so serene and everything looks great together. I also have a bay window in my room and was debating what to do for curtains there, I think the white ones you've used that go right to the floor are airy enough that they don't take over the window. Thanks for sharing :)

Now light some candles tonight, pull back the cozy bed linens and I'll bet he'll begin to see things your way! Enjoy!

  55. Oh my! What a beautiful bedroom you created. Did you already have the chair and ottman or did you buy it for the new makeover? If so, where did you find it and is that a slipcover on it? I've been wanting some type of chair like that so I can sit there and read before I go to sleep. I always fall asleep when I lie on my stomach reading in bed. Everything is elegant looking!

Do you have a tuitorial how to paint used lamps? Never done anything like that but would love to try sometime.

    1. Hi, I did purchase the chair, ottoman and slipcovers for this room from IKEA, they have other styles as well, but this one just worked for us, it's very relaxing, so I highly recommend it. As for painting the lamps...I just spray painted them, super easy, I did use one with a texture, I believe it was either Rustoleum, or Krylon. Good luck!
