Family Room

I finally received the cabinet I had been waiting for today. I couldn't be happier, especially since it is the  exact same one from Pottery Barn, but for a lot less.  We purchased them (there is two) from Rooms To Go, I couldn't find it online, but they should have it in the store if you are interested.

I still need to fill that wall where the cabinet is with pictures, but I will take my time, and make sure that what goes up there, is something I really like.

So, here is the family room.  It has a lot of red and yellow accent colors (my fave).  I made the red pillow covers, the others I purchased at Pottery Barn, I know, I am obsessed with that store, but really, I only own 1 piece of furniture from there, and it was the cheapest of it's kind, and yes, I do have a lot of their accessories, but I do tend to get them when they are on sale, it also helps that we have an outlet store a few hours away from us too.

And here is the family room:

I re-upholstered this chair

I couldn't find a good before picture, apparently I have deleted them.  Here is the only one I was able to find that shows the family room.  You can see the chair on the corner before it was re-upholstered, I also changed the pillow with one that matched the same red ones on the couch.  We also painted the walls, got new window coverings, and the new floors.

We spend a lot of time as a family in this room, I wanted it to feel homey and comfortable for everyone.  This room is hardly ever this neat, usually the pillows have been sat on, and lay flat on the couch or the floor, blankets are everywhere, and toys are pilled high on the ottoman, but this is all perfect with me.  Wouldn't change a thing.  Hope you enjoyed our family room.

Have a great week!

I love the warm colors that you have used in your accessories and window treatments. I lived in Texas before moving to the California desert... I REALLY miss my Texas home!

Your cabinets are great and I like how you have used them together.

  19. Oh also those curtains are off the hook...did you buy or make them? Sorry I just really like this room:)

  20. Micah, we got the sectional about 6 years ago, I can't believe its held up for so long with two little kids, we purchased it from a furniture store in Florida, but unfortunately, that store closed down about 4 years ago. The curtains I got online about a year ago from JcPenney outlet, and I remember paying just $11 per panel, which I thought was a great deal for '108 length curtains. They don't sell them any more though (bummer). Thanks for stopping by!

  21. Like so many things, but esp. your stripey curtains. I need to bring some color/pattern into our living room & those curtains just inspired me. BTW, I have the same clock {the mounted one}. Just found your blog & I've enjoyed looking around =)
