Our Formal (yeah, right!) Living Room
Can you tell that I love my living room? I do. It's very small, but honestly, for a room that gets very little use, I don't need anything bigger, besides, that would mean I would have more to clean. This room did not always look like this. Well, sort of. You see, we just recently got new floors, to replace the builder grade white carpet we use to have. Oh yes, I said white. Did I mention I happen to have two kids and two hairballs? Well, when it was time to remove the dreaded carped, it was not white anymore ;) Here is a before picture:
It was not bad to start out with, but me and the carpet just weren't the best of friends. I also got some new curtains from Tonic Living. If you were to look closely, you will see that they are not hemmed. It's all still a work in progress, I would not say this room is done yet, still need a few pieces of furniture, so that we can all bump our knees when we move around.
I thought I'd share some of the rooms stats with anyone who cares, actually, I want this posted so that I can go back someday in case I forget......which I will:
Wall Color: Benjamin Moore "Jicama"
Sofa: Harbor View II from Havertys
Rug: Home Goods
Coffe and End Tables: JC Penney
Lamp: JC Penney
Lamp Shade: Home Goods
Curtains: Sweet William from Tonic Living
Flower Pictures: JC Penney
Brown Pillows: On clearance from Restoration Hardware
White Pillow: Pottery Barn
Hope you have enjoyed a little tour of my living room.

I also have small spaces..but all the better to make warm and cozy :) You did a great job.
ReplyDeleteYour room looks great!! We also have that fabulous white carpet I am counting down till we replace... Your floors look really good & they look like they match your entry perfectly. Our entry is hardwood and we're contemplating DIY-ing Bruce's... did you do them yourself or have them installed?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments. Yes, the smaller, the cozier I believe :). We had someone install our floors because, well, simply put, we are not very handy. It took them about 4 days to complete about 1800 sf. I have a friend who has Bruce's hardwood floors, and they are gorgeous! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI was noticing your floors as I went on your home tour page...I love them...what kind of flooring is it?
ReplyDeleteSharon, they are Milano handscraped hardwood in Hickory burnished, thanks for your comment, I love them too :)
